About this service

If a Spanish civil registry, university, notary or consulate has told you a document must be a 'traducción jurada,' this is that service. A MAEC-accredited translator works the document, signs and seals it, and the result is accepted as a faithful, legally valid translation of the original — the same standing as the source document has, in the other language.

Spanish law requires a sworn translation to be produced by a translator accredited by the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, carrying that translator’s own seal and signature.

Frequently asked questions

Is a sworn translation the same as a certified translation?

In Spain, "traducción jurada" is the legal term — it means a translation produced and sealed by a MAEC-accredited translator. We use "sworn" and "certified" interchangeably on this site to describe the same service.

Will this be accepted by [institution]?

Sworn translations carrying the accredited translator’s seal and signature are the format Spanish civil registries, universities and notaries require. If your receiving office has an unusual extra requirement, tell us when you order and we’ll confirm it fits.

Can I get a physical copy with the ink seal?

Yes — choose the posted hard-copy option at checkout for Spain or the rest of the EU. Most offices now also accept the e-signed PDF.

What if I need a document type that isn't in the list?

Order the closest match and add a note, or send us a quick description via /quote — we'll confirm the right price before you pay.

Do you translate into languages other than Spanish?

Yes — from Spanish into English or Arabic, and the reverse, are our core pairs; French, German and Portuguese are available on request.
